Validated and accurate

Accuracy is at the heart of our company, consultancy service and rapid online analysis system.

Validation

There is a difference between saying something is accurate and showing it.

Boxkite continues to lead the field in the depth and breadth of validation studies that we undertake, spanning thousands of wind farms, hundreds of mast datasets and gigabytes of operational production data.

Thanks to a fully automatic analysis workflow, we’re able to test and evolve our systems continually and at huge scale.

Onshore energy yield
(pre-construction)

We tested Boxkite pre-construction energy yield analysis outputs against around 100 third party assessments from international consultancies using like-for-like inputs.

Boxkite produces the same P50 with no bias on average, and exceptionally high levels of agreement at individual projects.

Offshore energy yield
(pre-construction)

We have compared Boxkite simulations for most European offshore operational wind farms with actual production data from those projects.

Excluding exceptional down-time events, Boxkite predicts long-term production with no bias, and a tighter distribution than a typical P90/P50 ratio of a bankable assessment.

Machine learning for long-term correlation

For decades wind data analysts have used linear regression fits of one sort or another to estimate long-term wind conditions.

We have shown that our use of machine-learning (ML) is demonstrably more accurate, and allows use of shorter data sets earlier in the measurement campaign.

Boxkite uses ML correlation for all wind data analysis.
